Born on August 12, 1962, in Hau Giang Province, Viet Nam, Mr. Tran Thanh Man is a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
After holding office as the President of the 15th National Assembly from May 2024, he was re-elected on 6 April 2026 as President of the 16th National Assembly Viet Nam for the term 2026-2031. His illustrious career, spanning over four decades, reflects a profound dedication to public service and national governance, marked by significant leadership roles at both local and national levels.
From 2021 to 2024, he held prominent positions, including First Vice President of the 14th and 15th National Assembly and Deputy Secretary of the CPV Committee at the National Assembly. During this period, he also presided over the Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Organization, strengthening Viet Nam’s inter-parliamentary relations.
Between 2017 and 2021, he served as a Member of the 12th CPV Secretariat, Secretary General, and later Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2019–2024 term. He was also a member of the 14th National Assembly representing Can Tho City, elected to the 13th CPV Politburo, and served as Vice President of the National Assembly, solidifying his influence in Viet Nam’s political landscape.
Earlier in his career, from 2011 to 2016, he was Secretary of the Can Tho City CPV Committee and Head of the 13th National Assembly Delegation for Can Tho City, while also serving on the 11th and 12th CPV Central Committees.
Between 2008 and 2010, he was an Alternate Member of the 10th CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, demonstrating his leadership in local governance. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and studied Political Science at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. He is married to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga with two sons
